Forest Robotics Engineer Co-op
Responsibilities:
- Developing robotics systems for forestry in an agile development environment
- Following company safety protocols during testing and project implementation
- Assisting in-forest activities such as scouting, spotting, and surveying
- Perform daily checks and maintenance of equipment
- Collaborating with the team on technology modifications and project management
- Installing hardware, routing cables, and calibrating sensors
- Utilize company vehicles and tools, including pick-up trucks, radios, saws and drills
- Working with the team to repair sensors, cameras and hard-wired system controls
- Hiking and working in forested areas
Basic Qualifications:
- Traveling to and residing in rural California, about 3 hours from San Francisco for the duration of co-op
- Understand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Excellent communicator, able to create compelling artifacts, such as block diagrams, design documents, and requirements, to enable teams to collaborate on products and drive solutions
- Ability to resolve issues in creative, efficient, and practical ways
- Working towards BS in Robotics, Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent
Bonus points:
- Previous autonomous vehicle or robotics co-op experience
- Software and hardware test development
- Creating software hardware in the loop integration and unit tests
- Linux and command line
- Ethernet networking (e.g. IP configuration)
- Robot Operating System (ROS), Gazebo, and Bazel
- First Aid / CPR / first responder certifications
- Ability to speak Spanish
